Businessman urges entrepreneurs to join government-backed Entrepreneurs4Schools scheme on Tue 16th June, 2015
Will Davies, Managing Director of aspect.co.uk and pioneer of the Entrepreneurs4Schools scheme, has urged successful businessmen and women to back the programme and visit their old schools.
Davies recently visited his old school, Beechwood Park School in Hertfordshire and delivered a two-hour talk to 36 12 and 13-year-old students.
During the two hours, the children learned about Will Davies’s background, how he set up his business and then discussed his secrets towards enterprise success.
For one hour of this event, the children, a mixture of boys and girls, had to come up with a business idea in groups as like that seen on the successful BBC Dragons’ Den programme.
“The ideas the children brought forward included a solar power instillation business, speakers that work via Bluetooth and you can suction to any hard surface, video production company specialised for promoting start-ups, and an app to help share mobile phone power,” recalled Davies.
“The business ideas the kids came up with and the passion they showed in their work was fantastic. They were totally absorbed and motivated”.
Davies, who started property maintenance firm aspect.co.uk with friend Nick Bizley ten years ago, adds that entrepreneurs are ‘getting younger and younger’ and that successful businessmen and women should go out and inspire pupils at their former schools.
“Entrepreneurs4Schools is a fantastic scheme and children get a huge amount from it,” said Davies. “The kids at Beechwood said it was the best thing they have done since they finished their common entrance exams”.
Entrepreneurs4Schools is a programme backed by Education Secretary Nicky Morgan MP. It aims to encourage entrepreneurs to visit their former schools and talk about starting an enterprise.
Its official launch takes place in September 2015 after UK schools return from summer holidays, as part of Britain’s annual Global Entrepreneurship Week.
