We understand the stress of having water damage on a ceiling, but not knowing the cause. The thought of having to damage ceilings or floors in a vain attempt to find the source can leave you feeling helpless and facing the prospect of a large repair bill.

Our leak detection specialists use non-invasive methods. The trace and access approach can pinpoint the location of a leak without causing damage. It’s why it’s required by most insurers when processing an “escape of water” claim.

How to find a water leak

WATCH: Detecting the source of ceiling leaks

This video shows how a range of non-invasive methods are used to detect a hidden leak causing damage to a ceiling.

A series of tests were able to rule out bathroom plumbing as the source of the problem. A fault was eventually pinpointed in an isolated part of the roof.

Our experts are available to find any type of hard to find leak.

Don’t delay fixing a ceiling leak

If you have water stains, or damp and mould patches on your ceiling, you shouldn’t ignore them. Resolving the problem can often be covered on an insurance policy.

Water leaking inside a property could be causing bigger problems than any visible signs might suggest. Water damage can eventually compromise the structural integrity of a property if left unresolved. Failing to act quickly might mean your insurance company rejects your claim.

Investigation process

The position of a leak is not always where the visible signs appear on a ceiling.

Small quantities of water will often track along concealed structural supports, pipework etc to the lowest point possible where it then collects. It means the visible signs of a leak could be some distance from the actual source.

The logical process our experts follow allows them to locate, with a high level of certainty, where the source is. Once traced to a high level of certainty, the potential source will be accessed to get visual confirmation to conclude the investigation.

The process of fixing the leak and quoting for the repair work can then begin.

The methodical process our tradespeople follow, and the non-intrusive methods they use, means on average they’re able to find leaks quicker while causing minimal damage.
