Is your boiler ready for the winter ahead? on Tue 30th September, 2008
-aspect.co.uk provides money saving tips for today’s homeowners-
As soon as the cold snap starts, homeowners turn their boilers on; boilers that have been sitting dormant for months. Break downs inevitably occur, and the property maintenance industry experiences a huge increase in emergency calls outs.
Leading property maintenance company, aspect.co.uk (www.aspect.co.uk), warns homeowners to consider having their boilers checked now, or to look at upgrading their old system.
William Davies, managing director of aspect.co.uk, comments: “You may think that your 10-year old boiler is still working, so why change it? Well, had you considered that some of today’s energy efficient boilers can provide up to 30% savings on gas bills? And, in light of the recent energy company price hikes, the opportunity to reduce costs could not have come at a better time.
“Upgrading your systems will not only create these savings, but will also help to avoid unnecessary call outs. An engineer will spot any potential problems, and will rectify these before they worsen, or become costly winter repairs.”
POWERFLUSHING TO MAINTAIN YOUR BOILER
aspect.co.uk advises that one way of providing increased longevity to the operation of a boiler is to undertake preventative measures such as boiler servicing and mechanical ‘Powerflushing’. This method will break down and remove the scale build up within radiators and pipe work. This allows the system to reach temperature far more quickly, thereby reducing fuel costs and putting
less strain on the boiler function. A boilers internal components are also less likely to be affected by scale and see the boiler through the cold snaps.
TAKING A GREEN APPROACH
Today’s energy efficient boilers also work towards helping households to become greener.
William Davies added: “Property owners should consider installing solar renewable energy, which can be used in conjunction with a specially-integrated boiler. This means they will be doing more to protect the environment, and they will also reap the long-term cost savings if they intend to stay in the property for a number of years.
“And, in an age when we are being asked to do our bit for the environment, shouldn’t we all be considering this as an option?”
