Noisy air con units

Modern air conditioning units are designed to work without making much noise. If you notice your unit has started to sound different you should arrange for a maintenance or repair visit.

Banging, clunking or rattling noises usually indicate that parts have either failed, begun to deteriorate or have become misaligned or loose. To prevent further damage you should turn the unit off and wait until it has been checked.

Clicking noises that occur during normal operation, i.e. after the unit has started or is shutting down, are generally a sign of an electrical fault. Resolving an electrical issue early can help prevent more serious issues later on.

If your air con unit is making a high pitched screeching or whistling noise you should arrange for one of our engineers to visit straight away. This noise is associated with refrigerant leaking from the unit, which is a health hazard.

Buzzing noises are usually associated with debris inside the unit, or an issue with a fan.

Our experts can help repair any of the issues that result in the noises caused by a faulty air conditioning unit.
