If you smell gas or think there might be a gas leak, call 0800 111 999 immediately for the National Gas Emergency Helpline. The Gas Safe register’s website outlines what to do and the symptoms to watch out for. The National Grid will turn off your gas supply and cap it off. They will make it safe, but they won’t fix the source of the problem.
After you’ve called the helpline, it’s time to contact us. One of our Gas Safe registered engineers will trace the cause of the issue and fix it. If we arrive before the National Grid, we’ll turn off the gas supply first. When they arrive, they can confirm the environment’s safe. Note, if a gas leak is found to be on the street-side of your gas meter, we can’t resolve it. It’ll be up to your gas supplier to fix it.
