'Where next for the UK's property maintenance sector'? on Thu 15th December, 2011

• Property maintenance and refurbishment specialist reviews 2011, and looks towards trends in 2012
• 2012 will be the year of refurbishment

It would seem that – for now – London’s homeowners are more focused on refurbishing as opposed to selling their properties and moving on.

Throughout 2012,, a leading property maintenance and refurbishment company, has seen an increasing trend for home refurbishments. William Davies, managing director, comments:

“November was our best month ever on the property refurbishment side of the business, and we’re expecting to see a repeat of this in December.

“We have also seen an increase in people purchasing and installing energy efficient boilers – perhaps they’re predicting yet another harsh winter. Something none of us want to be caught out by.”

And, following the unusually warm winter so far,’s boiler maintenance engineers have mainly focused on plumbing repairs. William Davies adds:

“Forecasters have lined us up for more extreme weather to come. I’d therefore anticipate a flurry of requests for boiler repairs both in the run up to Christmas, and over the festive period.”

When it comes to predictions for 2012, Davies firmly believes it will be the year of home refurbishment, and that property owners – across the UK – will continue the home improvement trend. He comments:

“With the uncertainty surrounding the economy and the property market, people will still hold off selling and buying; instead they’ll choose to improve their properties. It will definitely be the year when home refurbishment reaches a whole new level, and we will be keeping a close check on the emerging trends.”
